What You’ll Do

  • Provide holistic nursing care to patients in palliative care, focusing on comfort and dignity.
  • Mentor and guide ward staff in managing patient assessments and referrals.
  • Ensure compliance with professional and ethical nursing practices.
  • Coordinate health promotion activities and comprehensive patient treatment plans.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to reporting and meetings within the Palliative unit.
  • Utilize resources effectively to ensure sustainable quality patient care.

What You’ll Need

  • A Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse or General Nurse.
  • For Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years of appropriate nursing experience post-registration.
  • For Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years of relevant nursing experience post-registration.
  • Willingness to work overtime and undergo palliative care training.
  • Strong theoretical and clinical knowledge in general nursing and palliative care.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Computer literacy.
