What You’ll Do
- Provide optimal psychiatric nursing care within established standards and a professional/legal framework.
- Utilize human, financial, and physical resources effectively, ensuring all equipment and consumables are managed appropriately.
- Participate in personal and professional development activities for yourself and your team, including students and other staff categories.
- Maintain accurate documentation and statistical data collection, contributing to research activities as required.
- Assist in the development and implementation of nursing quality improvement plans, policies, and standard operating procedures.
What You’ll Need
- A Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent, enabling registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- A post-basic nursing qualification in Advanced Psychiatric Nursing Science (at least 1 year) accredited with the SANC, or a relevant 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
- Grade 1: Minimum of 4 years of appropriate nursing experience post-registration; Grade 2: Minimum of 14 years of experience, with at least 10 years in Psychiatry after obtaining the required qualifications.
- Willingness to work shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and organize nursing services effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
