What You’ll Do

  • Identify and coordinate learning opportunities for nursing and related staff, as well as students, in the Organ Transplant Unit.
  • Manage cadaver and familial organ donor patients efficiently and compassionately.
  • Liaise effectively with all relevant stakeholders within the organ transplant team to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Utilize human and financial resources to maintain operational efficiency in the unit.
  • Deliver support services to the Nursing Service and the broader institution.
  • Uphold ethical standards while promoting professional growth and self-development among staff.

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
  • A post-basic nursing qualification in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: General (R212) or a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • For Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate nursing experience after registration with the SANC.
  • For Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate nursing experience, with at least 10 years in the specific specialty after obtaining the necessary qualifications.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays, and be on call as needed.
  • Basic computer literacy and knowledge of relevant legislation and policy related to organ transplant coordination.
  • Strong communication, leadership, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
