What You’ll Do
- Wheel patients to and from the wards, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Transport patients to various service areas, including the operating theatre.
- Collect and transport corpses to the mortuary with respect and care.
- Deliver equipment, stores, and documentation to wards and other departments.
- Collect and deliver specimens as needed to support hospital operations.
- Offload patients from ambulances and private cars to stretchers.
- Clean stretchers and wheelchairs after use to maintain hygiene standards.
- Report any faulty or broken equipment to your supervisor immediately.
- Assist with mortuary services, including receiving and releasing corpses.
- Maintain accurate records for all corpses handled and ensure proper identification.
- Clean and safeguard all equipment used in the department.
What You’ll Need
- NQF Level 3 (Grade 10 certificate or equivalent).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work shifts and under pressure.
- Sound knowledge of customer care principles.
