What You’ll Do

  • Assist pharmacists in reading and preparing prescriptions accurately.
  • Support the selection and compounding of medicines according to established protocols.
  • Label and supply medicines in appropriate containers, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients on the correct use of their medications.
  • Help manage and distribute medicines and scheduled substances efficiently.
  • Participate in the compounding of non-sterile and sterile medicines according to approved formulas.
  • Support chronic medicine access initiatives, including home deliveries.
  • Carry out general housekeeping and administrative duties as needed.

What You’ll Need

  • A Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification that allows registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
  • Registration with the SAPC as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) (Institutional).
  • For Grade 1: No experience required post-registration; for Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years’ experience; for Grade 3: Minimum of 13 years’ experience as a Pharmacist Assistant post-registration.
  • A valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB) and willingness to travel.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining a high standard of professionalism.
