About the Role
The South African Navy is seeking a dedicated Personnel Official (Production) to join its HR Support Satellite team based at the Naval Base in Simon’s Town. This role is essential for managing the administration of medical dependents and ensuring the proper execution of various HR policies that impact Defence Act Personnel and Public Service Act Personnel. The work done in this position directly contributes to the welfare of military personnel and their families, making it a vital part of public service in South Africa.
As a Personnel Official, you will be responsible for tasks such as registering marriages and divorces, administering medical dependents, and managing the Group Life Insurance Scheme. What You’ll Do
- Manage the inclusion of adopted children, life partners, and spouses on medical strength.
- Oversee the registration of marriages and divorces for personnel.
- Administer changes regarding medical dependents.
- Handle Occupational Diseases and Injuries on Duty for Defence Act Personnel.
- Execute the administration of the Group Life Insurance Scheme.
- Process reimbursement of medical accounts for eligible personnel.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
- No prior experience is required, although exposure to a Human Resources environment is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Public Service and SANDF HR administration procedures is beneficial.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel and MS Word.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
