What You’ll Do

  • Provide effective management and leadership in the Paediatric–ICU unit.
  • Foster effective communication with patients, healthcare teams, and junior colleagues.
  • Manage and supervise all resources within the unit.
  • Advocate for patients’ treatment and care, ensuring adherence to Batho Pele principles.
  • Maintain clinical competence by implementing scientific principles of nursing and governance.
  • Address disciplinary and grievance issues following established procedures.
  • Support staff development through training programs and performance evaluations.
  • Monitor the implementation of health policies and frameworks to enhance service delivery.
  • Engage in health promotion activities and evaluate data as needed.
  • Utilize basic computer skills to support service delivery and management.

What You’ll Need

  • Senior Certificate / Grade 12 plus Basic R425 qualification in Nursing, allowing registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • Post-basic nursing qualification in Paediatric–ICU Nursing Science, accredited by SANC, with a minimum duration of one year.
  • Diploma/Degree in nursing management.
  • At least nine years of experience in nursing after registration with SANC, including five years in a Paediatric–ICU specialty.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing care processes, legal frameworks, and health policies.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including public relations and conflict resolution.
  • Insight into public health sector strategies and processes related to nursing care.
  • Basic computer literacy to enhance service delivery.
