About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Operational Manager Nursing (Specialty Stream) to play a vital role at the Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital in Mobeni, KwaZulu-Natal. What You’ll Do
- Lead and coordinate nursing activities within the Orthopaedic Unit to ensure quality patient care.
- Supervise nursing staff and ensure compliance with policies, protocols, and standards.
- Manage human, financial, and material resources effectively within the unit.
- Develop duty rosters, manage staff performance, and facilitate staff development.
- Promote infection prevention and control practices and patient safety initiatives.
- Ensure the availability and proper maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.
- Oversee the implementation of clinical governance programs and quality assurance standards.
- Facilitate continuous professional development and mentoring of nursing staff.
- Compile reports, statistics, and other necessary documentation as required.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for efficient service delivery.
What You’ll Need
- Professional Nurse Grade 1 Basic R425 qualification allowing registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Post-basic qualification in Orthopaedic nursing science, accredited by SANC.
- A minimum of nine years of relevant nursing experience, with at least five years in Orthopaedic Nursing Science.
- In-depth knowledge of nursing legislation, ethics, and professional practice.
- Strong leadership, supervisory, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
