What You’ll Do

  • Manage and provide professional leadership in the Neonatal–ICU unit.
  • Ensure effective communication with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise resource utilization and manage all operational aspects of the unit.
  • Promote proper treatment and care for patients, advocating for their needs.
  • Maintain clinical competence and ensure adherence to nursing governance principles.
  • Implement maternal guidelines and uphold nursing legislation and ethical practices.
  • Handle discipline and grievance matters according to set procedures.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for staff and nursing students.
  • Monitor health promotion activities and evaluate relevant data.
  • Provide support during weekend and night shifts as needed.

What You’ll Need

  • Senior Certificate / Grade 12 and Basic R425 qualification (Diploma/Degree in Nursing) registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • A minimum of one year of post-basic nursing qualification in Neonatal–ICU Nursing Science.
  • At least nine years of nursing experience, with five years in a Neonatal–ICU specialty.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing care processes, legal frameworks, and public health strategies.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including public relations and conflict resolution.
  • Basic computer literacy to support service delivery.
