What You’ll Do
- Provide clinical occupational therapy services to patients in primary healthcare settings.
- Conduct wheelchair seating assessments and prescribe, fit, and issue wheelchairs.
- Fabricate and prescribe upper and lower limb splints as needed.
- Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings to ensure holistic patient care.
- Collect and submit data in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Facilitate the repair and maintenance of assistive devices and manage stock of consumables.
- Engage in relevant in-service training and skills transfer to enhance service delivery.
- Provide relief duty in the absence of colleagues within the healthcare ecosystem.
What You’ll Need
- A qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapist.
- Registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist.
- Relevant experience:
- Grade 1: No experience required post-registration.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years relevant experience post-registration.
- Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years relevant experience post-registration.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the sub-district.
- Strong communication and report writing skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Clinical therapeutic skills, including assessment techniques and discharge planning.
