What You’ll Do

• Receive and handle clinical specimens with great care and accuracy.
• Perform therapeutic drug monitoring assays to ensure effective patient management.
• Capture electronic data using DISALAB and maintain effective communication with clinicians.
• Oversee the maintenance of the Internal Quality Control (IQC) programme.
• Ensure proper upkeep of laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Manage specialized assays, including sample receipt and handling.
• Assist with stock management to ensure laboratory resources are readily available.

What You’ll Need

• An appropriate qualification allowing registration with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Technologist in Clinical Pharmacology.
• For Grade 1: No experience is required after registering with the HPCSA as a Medical Technologist (Clinical Pharmacology) for South African qualified employees; 1 year of relevant experience is required for foreign qualified employees.
• For Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience after HPCSA registration for South African qualified employees; 11 years for foreign qualified employees.
• For Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience after HPCSA registration for South African qualified employees; 21 years for foreign qualified employees.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory quality management systems and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Proficiency in ISO 15189 and experience in an accredited laboratory setting.
• Knowledge and skills in the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment, along with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
