What You’ll Do

• Provide specialist psychiatric care to patients at George Regional Hospital and selected referral centers
• Conduct outreach visits and consultations to support referral centers in the region
• Participate in the clinical governance of the district mental health service
• Teach and supervise junior and allied mental health practitioners, as well as medical students
• Manage resources effectively and efficiently to ensure financial sustainability
• Stay updated on service and clinical developments through appropriate research

What You’ll Need

• An appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Psychiatry
• Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Psychiatry
• For Grade 1: No experience required after HPCSA registration
• For Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a Medical Specialist in Psychiatry
• For Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience as a Medical Specialist in Psychiatry
• Valid driver’s license (Code B/EB) and willingness to travel
• Knowledge of public health approaches and integrated psychiatric services
• Strong clinical, leadership, administrative, teaching, and mentoring skills
• Competence in computer literacy, specifically MS Office applications
