What You’ll Do

  • Provide specialist clinical services and comprehensive medical care to in-patients and out-patients.
  • Manage resources effectively to ensure financial sustainability within the department.
  • Mentor and create a supportive learning environment for junior staff and students.
  • Coordinate clinical governance and administrative requirements effectively.
  • Submit required medical reports and documentation for legal and administrative purposes.
  • Maintain registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) through continuous professional development (CPD) activities.
  • Offer outreach and support services at the district level, enhancing access to healthcare.

What You’ll Need

  • Appropriate qualification allowing registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine.
  • Experience:
  • Grade 1: None post-registration.
  • Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years appropriate experience post-registration.
  • Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years appropriate experience post-registration.
  • Valid Driver’s license and willingness to work weekend shifts.
  • Strong ethical principles, clinical skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a multidisciplinary team effectively.
  • Knowledge of hospital procedures, relevant legislation, and the management of critically ill patients.
