What You’ll Do
- Provide comprehensive clinical care across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings.
- Manage both acute and chronic medical conditions, including undifferentiated presentations.
- Perform minor procedures in accordance with your level of care.
- Identify clinical deterioration and initiate stabilization procedures.
- Ensure proper referral or escalation of care when necessary.
- Maintain continuity of care across diverse clinical interfaces.
- Cover after-hours and weekend shifts across various departments.
- Participate in ward rounds, admissions, and discharge processes.
- Maintain high standards of clinical documentation and effective handover.
- Support clinical outreach to facilities within the Helderberg Hospital network.
- Contribute to patient safety and service improvement initiatives.
- Engage in teaching and supervising interns, students, and junior medical officers.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
- Valid registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
- For Grade 1: No experience required after HPCSA registration for South African qualified employees.
- For Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Medical Practitioner post-registration.
- For Grade 3: At least 10 years’ experience as a registered Medical Practitioner.
- Valid Code B/EB driver’s license.
- Willingness to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to manage a high clinical workload and make independent decisions.
- Competence in generalist clinical care across various specialties.
- Strong communication skills, especially in high-pressure situations.
