What You’ll Do
- Resolve disputes regarding medical unfitness of mine employees through the appeals process.
- Collect and analyze statistics from medical reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Ensure quality assurance in the archiving process of mine closure employee medical records.
- Participate in investigations related to mine health and safety accidents.
- Liaise with compensation houses to manage claims and provide necessary information.
- Offer expert advice on HIV/AIDS and TB issues within the mining sector.
- Oversee and manage the operations of the Directorate.
What You’ll Need
- An MBCHB Degree and a postgraduate qualification in Occupational Medicine (NQF 10).
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- A valid driver’s license and a certificate for entry into Senior Management Service (SMS).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in middle/senior management within Occupational Health or related fields.
- In-depth knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and relevant occupational health policies.
- Strong management, strategic development, and communication skills.
- Ability to conduct research and analyze complex health-related data.
