What You’ll Do
- Conduct online cataloguing of library materials, ensuring accurate bibliographic data formulation.
- Consult Dewey Decimal classification schedules and Resource Description and Access standards for proper cataloguing.
- Classify library materials in the Library Management System (SLIMS) by analyzing their type, audience, and subject content.
- Print catalogue cards using the REMORA system, verifying and editing bibliographic records as necessary.
- Search and confirm existing library materials within the SLIMS database and catalogue new items when needed.
What You’ll Need
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF level 06/07) in Library & Information Studies/Science or a related field recognized by SAQA.
- At least 2 years of experience in a library environment.
- A valid driver’s license (not required for persons with disabilities).
- Knowledge of Batho Pele principles, public service regulations, and basic administration procedures.
- Excellent computer literacy and interpersonal skills, with a strong problem-solving ability.
