About the Role
The Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC) is seeking a dedicated individual for the position of Intern: Strategic Planning at its Head Office located in Qonce, Eastern Cape. This role is essential for supporting the development of strategic planning documents that will shape the future of sport, recreation, and cultural initiatives across the region. As an intern, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the department’s planning processes are comprehensive and aligned with the mandates set by the Provincial and National Treasury, as well as the National Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
This internship presents a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public service while contributing to initiatives that promote community engagement and well-being. What You’ll Do
- Assist in organizing strategic planning and review sessions for the department.
- Collect and compile inputs from managers for the development of statutory documents.
- Facilitate the distribution of the Strategic Planning Cycle Framework to all programme managers.
- Help consolidate planning inputs from various programmes within the department.
- Organize sessions with stakeholders to communicate the approved Strategic and Annual Performance Plan.
- Support logistics related to travel and accommodation for strategic management staff.
- Take minutes and compile reports for strategic management sessions.
- Undertake additional duties related to strategic management as assigned by managers.
What You’ll Need
- National Senior Certificate/Matric Certificate/Grade 12.
- A three-year National Diploma or bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 6/7) in relevant fields such as Policy Development, Public Management, or Strategic Management.
- South African citizenship.
- No prior experience in an internship programme is required.
- Must have a clear criminal record.
