About the Role

The Office of the Chief Director: Metro Health Services is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Deputy Director: Stakeholder Engagement to join their team in Cape Town. This pivotal role focuses on leading and coordinating stakeholder engagement in support of Metro Health Services’ strategic priorities and service delivery. By serving as the primary point of contact between Metro Health Services and external stakeholders—including non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and private sector partners—you will play an essential role in improving health outcomes for communities across the region.

In this role, you will help establish and support governance structures, including steering committees and technical working groups, that contribute to key health initiatives. Your leadership will foster collaboration and drive meaningful change within the Metro Health Services framework. What You’ll Do

• Lead and coordinate structured stakeholder engagement initiatives.
• Serve as the main interface between Metro Health Services and external stakeholders.
• Establish and support governance structures to enhance program effectiveness.
• Provide leadership for stakeholder-facing components, including onboarding and communication.
• Support provincialisation and system reform initiatives across various stakeholders.
• Draft and coordinate strategic communication, submissions, and briefing materials for governance forums.
• Supervise and manage personnel reporting to this role.
• Identify opportunities for improving stakeholder coordination through innovation and technology.
• Maintain oversight of stakeholder-related risks and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
• Provide regular progress reports to senior management and relevant governance structures.

What You’ll Need

• A minimum of a 3-year national diploma or degree in a relevant field.
• Proven managerial experience in stakeholder engagement or partnership management within the public sector.
• Experience in a health service delivery environment.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with external stakeholders, including NPOs and donors.
• Familiarity with governance structures and formal decision-making processes.
• Experience working with digital or stakeholder-facing platforms.
• Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence and willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed.
• Strong strategic stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting submissions and reports.
• Strong organisational, analytical, and coordination skills, with a focus on digital literacy.
