About the Role
The Department of Information and Communication Technology is seeking a dedicated Information Technology Technician to join its dynamic team in Pretoria. What You’ll Do
- Provide network connectivity to all users, ensuring both WAN and LAN functions are accessible.
- Maintain the server room infrastructure, including reporting faults and ensuring cleanliness.
- Safeguard network security by installing and upgrading anti-virus software, as well as monitoring updates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve computer system issues, performing repairs or replacements as necessary.
- Offer IT service desk support, responding to user inquiries and logging issues for resolution.
- Manage and maintain IT security controls to protect data integrity and ensure service continuity, including backup operations and disaster recovery tests.
What You’ll Need
- Matric Certificate and a National Diploma or relevant NQF Level 6 qualification in Information Technology.
- ITIL Foundations Certificate and certifications such as MCSE, A+, or N+ are advantageous.
- A valid driver’s license is required, except for individuals with disabilities.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an IT environment, with strong knowledge of LAN/WAN support.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, coupled with advanced computer literacy.
