What You’ll Do

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of project managers under your supervision.
  • Provide mentorship, development, and technical support to enhance team performance.
  • Manage construction projects independently, covering both large-scale capital and maintenance projects.
  • Translate client requirements into manageable scopes of work for effective project execution.
  • Procure services of built environment professionals through the supply chain management process.
  • Coordinate work among various professionals to ensure high-quality design and documentation.
  • Facilitate the bidding process for contractor appointments.
  • Ensure appointed consultants uphold quality standards within their responsibilities.
  • Provide contractors with timely specifications and contract details.
  • Assess applications for variation orders and extensions of time, offering recommendations.
  • Process monthly interim payments in line with government commitments.
  • Prepare and submit project information for filing and easy audit access.
  • Secure required funding for projects through established internal processes.
  • Foster positive working relationships within the department and with colleagues.

What You’ll Need

  • A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • At least six years of post-qualification experience.
  • Registration with the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professionals (SACPCMP) as a Professional Construction Project Manager.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Strong knowledge in program and project management, project design and analysis, and legal compliance.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making, and conflict management skills.
