What You’ll Do
- Lead the Ophthalmology Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Oversee clinical governance and quality management within the service.
- Manage human, financial, and capital resources effectively.
- Plan and implement outreach programs and training for medical staff, including Registrars and Interns.
- Respond to medical and legal incidents as they arise, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Develop strategies for continuous quality improvement and clinical risk management.
What You’ll Need
- Appropriate qualifications for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Ophthalmology.
- A minimum of five years’ relevant experience as a Medical Specialist post-registration.
- Proven experience in supervising and training medical staff.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare policies and frameworks, including Healthcare 2030 and the Ideal Hospital framework.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to work overtime if required.
- Competency in managing clinical service delivery and addressing medico-legal issues.
