What You’ll Do

  • Represent the obstetrics and gynaecology discipline as part of the District Clinical Specialist Team.
  • Manage patient flow and optimize services in theatres, wards, and outpatient settings.
  • Oversee clinical outcomes and ensure adherence to evidence-based care practices.
  • Strengthen patient safety measures and compliance with National Core Standards.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to registrars and junior medical officers.
  • Conduct formal teaching, skills training, and assessment preparation for students.
  • Participate in after-hours consultant call roster for continuous support.
  • Collaborate on curriculum development in partnership with the academic division.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and promote a professional work culture.

What You’ll Need

  • Medical degree and registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience as a Medical Specialist in this field.
  • Valid driver’s license and South African citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Strong knowledge of public service legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
  • Ability to lead clinical governance activities and quality improvement initiatives.
