What You’ll Do
- Perform technical GIS activities to support infrastructure planning.
- Collect, capture, and regularly update credible data from various sources.
- Analyze data according to specific application requirements.
- Implement quality assurance measures for data integrity.
- Design and maintain spatial databases in line with education information systems.
- Document functional and user requirements, and conduct gap analyses.
- Verify and update spatial data, along with capturing metadata records.
- Produce customized maps and compile reports based on user requirements.
- Validate GIS software and equipment, assisting in testing and customization.
- Engage in continuous professional development by studying new technologies and trends in GIS.
What You’ll Need
- National Senior Certificate and a National Diploma in GIS or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of three years’ experience post-qualification in a relevant field.
- Knowledge of the South African Schools Act of 1996, and related regulations and guidelines.
- Familiarity with spatial planning systems and government norms.
- Understanding of the Government Immovable Asset Management Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
