What You’ll Do

  • Supervise daily food service operations, ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
  • Oversee the maintenance and control of kitchen equipment and apparatus.
  • Manage staff schedules and support the principles of Human Resources.
  • Assist in financial management related to food services.
  • Ensure correct interpretation of recipes and oversee production planning.
  • Maintain accurate daily statistics related to food service operations.
  • Train and mentor staff in food preparation and safety protocols.

What You’ll Need

  • General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) Grade 9 (Std 7) as a minimum educational qualification.
  • Appropriate experience in a hospital food service environment.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Physical capability to lift heavy objects and be on feet for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of mass production cooking methods for both normal and therapeutic diets.
  • Familiarity with hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, and HACCP principles.
  • Proficient computer literacy and numerical skills.
  • Strong organizing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure, adhering to rules and policies.
