What You’ll Do
- Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
- Cook and process prepared ingredients for consumption, ensuring meals are delicious and nutritious.
- Serve prepared food in the appropriate crockery while adhering to stipulated dietary allowances.
- Pack food delivery trolleys and efficiently deliver meals to designated areas within the hospital.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery from service areas.
- Ensure the correct quantity of cutlery and crockery is returned to the kitchen and wash them thoroughly.
- Perform quality checks on cleaning processes to meet health and safety standards.
- Regularly clean the food processing area throughout the day and report any hygiene or safety concerns to your supervisor.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF level 1 or 2 qualification (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent).
- A basic understanding of food services and preparation, including the operation of food processing equipment.
- Knowledge of health and safety measures, hygiene, and bacterial contamination control.
- Basic literacy skills and the ability to measure ingredients accurately.
- A genuine desire to contribute to a safe and healthy environment for patients.
