What You’ll Do

  • Render catering services by following established menus and special diet plans.
  • Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables, and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
  • Process and cook prepared ingredients for consumption, ensuring quality and safety.
  • Serve prepared food in the appropriate crockery, adhering to dietary allowances.
  • Pack food delivery trolleys and ensure accurate delivery to designated areas within the hospital.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery from service areas.
  • Perform quality checks on cleaning processes to meet hygiene standards.
  • Report any unhygienic or unsafe conditions to your supervisor.

What You’ll Need

  • An NQF level 1 or 2 qualification (or equivalent ABET level 2 certificate).
  • Knowledge of food services and food preparation techniques.
  • Understanding of health and safety measures in food environments.
  • Basic literacy skills and the ability to operate food processing equipment.
  • A keen ability to measure ingredients accurately.
