What You’ll Do

  • Follow menus and special dietary plans to prepare meals.
  • Clean and cut vegetables, and prepare meat, poultry, and fish.
  • Cook ingredients to create nutritious meals for patients.
  • Serve food using appropriate crockery while ensuring portion control.
  • Pack food delivery trolleys and distribute meals to designated areas within the hospital.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery.
  • Wash, dry, and store kitchen equipment, ensuring all cleaning standards are met.
  • Conduct regular checks to uphold safety and sanitation measures in food preparation areas.
  • Report any unsanitary conditions to your supervisor promptly.

What You’ll Need

  • NQF level 1 or 2 (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent).
  • Basic knowledge of food services and preparation techniques.
  • Understanding of food processing equipment operation.
  • Awareness of health and safety measures, hygiene, and contamination control.
  • Basic literacy skills and the ability to measure ingredients accurately.
  • Capability to operate food processing equipment effectively.
