What You’ll Do
- Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables and processing meat, poultry, and fish.
- Follow menus and special diet plans to ensure that meals meet dietary requirements.
- Serve prepared food using the appropriate crockery and ensure portion sizes align with dietary allowances.
- Pack food delivery trolleys and deliver meals to designated areas within the hospital.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery and ensuring proper cleaning standards are met.
- Perform regular checks on safety and sanitation standards, reporting any issues to your supervisor.
- Clean the food processing area throughout the day to uphold hygiene and safety regulations.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF level 1 or 2 qualification (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent).
- Knowledge of food services and food preparation.
- Familiarity with operating food processing equipment and basic health and safety measures.
- Basic literacy skills and the ability to measure ingredients accurately.
- A commitment to maintaining hygiene and safety in food preparation areas.
