What You’ll Do
- Render catering services by following menus and special diet plans
- Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables, and preparing meat, poultry, and fish
- Process and cook prepared ingredients for consumption
- Serve meals in the appropriate crockery, ensuring correct portion sizes
- Pack food delivery trolleys and deliver meals to designated areas within the hospital
- Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery from various service areas
- Ensure cleanliness by washing and drying used equipment, cutlery, and crockery
- Perform quality checks to confirm that sanitation standards are met
- Clean food processing areas regularly and report any hygiene or safety concerns to the supervisor
What You’ll Need
- NQF level 1 or 2 (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent)
- Knowledge of food services and food preparation processes
- Familiarity with the operation of food processing equipment
- Understanding of basic health and safety measures
- Basic literacy skills and the ability to measure accurately
- A commitment to maintaining hygiene and bacterial contamination control measures
