What You’ll Do

  • Render catering services by following menus and special diet plans.
  • Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
  • Process and cook prepared ingredients for consumption.
  • Serve prepared food in appropriate crockery according to dietary allowances.
  • Pack food delivery trolleys and deliver meals to various areas within the hospital.
  • Ensure the correct meals reach the intended areas in the institution.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery from wards.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are met.
  • Clean the food processing area regularly and report any safety or hygiene issues to the supervisor.

What You’ll Need

  • NQF level 1 or 2 (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent).
  • Basic knowledge of food services and food preparation.
  • Familiarity with the operation of food processing equipment.
  • Understanding of health and safety measures, hygiene, and bacterial contamination control.
  • Basic literacy skills.
  • Ability to accurately measure ingredients and operate food processing equipment.
