What You’ll Do

  • Render catering services by following prescribed menus and special diet plans.
  • Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
  • Process and cook prepared ingredients for consumption, ensuring quality and safety.
  • Serve food in the appropriate crockery while maintaining portion control according to dietary allowances.
  • Pack and deliver food trolleys to the relevant areas within the hospital.
  • Ensure that meals are accurately delivered to designated areas within the institution.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting and washing used cutlery and crockery.
  • Perform regular safety and sanitation checks to uphold hygiene standards.
  • Report any unhygienic or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

What You’ll Need

  • NQF level 1 or 2 (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent) with no prior experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of food services and food preparation techniques.
  • Understanding of health and safety measures related to food handling.
  • Ability to operate food processing equipment effectively.
  • Basic literacy skills and the capability to measure ingredients accurately.
