About the Role
The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning is seeking dedicated individuals for the position of Environmental Officer Grade A-C: Environmental Impact, with two available posts located in the vibrant Ugu and Harry Gwala Districts of KwaZulu-Natal. This role is pivotal as it supports the sustainable development of our communities by ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and fostering collaboration among stakeholders. What You’ll Do
- Evaluate Environmental Authorisation applications to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Provide technical and procedural support on environmental matters.
- Facilitate internal cooperation and liaise with various units to promote efficient workflows.
- Perform administrative tasks related to environmental management functions.
What You’ll Need
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Sciences, or Environmental Law.
- 1-2 years of experience in Environmental Management.
- A valid driver’s license (code B) and proof of registration with EAPASA as an EAP/candidate EAP, or evidence of awaiting a decision on your application.
- Good knowledge of Environmental Legislation and Policies, including the National Environmental Management Act, 1998.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and proficiency in computer literacy.
- Skills in problem-solving, technical report writing, policy development, and project management.
