What You’ll Do

  • Ensure the effective implementation of an integrated environmental management system.
  • Manage air quality legislation and policies at the provincial level, supporting local interventions.
  • Develop and oversee air quality management tools and programs.
  • Implement integrated waste management plans and support local government in waste services.
  • Process and authorize solid waste disposal sites and waste management authorizations.
  • Create waste information systems to promote recycling and waste reduction strategies.
  • Manage environmental impact services and resources in accordance with legislation.

What You’ll Need

  • Grade 12 plus an undergraduate qualification (NQF7) in Natural Science, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • A postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.
  • Five years of experience at middle or senior managerial level in a related field.
  • Successful completion of the Pre-entry Certificate for SMS as endorsed by the National School of Government (NSG).
  • EAPASA Registration as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner.
  • Valid driver’s license (with exceptions for persons with disabilities).
  • Strong competencies in strategic capability, project management, financial management, and problem-solving.
