About the Role
The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning is seeking a dedicated Environmental Officer (Specialised Production) to join their dynamic team in Cape Town, Western Cape. In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialist advice to both external clients and internal teams, ensuring compliance with the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) and EIA regulations. What You’ll Do
- Manage EIA applications and directives, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation.
- Develop and evaluate Environmental Authorisations and conditions of authorisations/directives.
- Provide specialist advice to clients and other directorates within the department.
- Conduct compliance audits on granted environmental authorisations.
- Support other directorates by addressing ministerial and parliamentary inquiries.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate 4-year degree (or equivalent qualification) in environmental management or natural/environmental science.
- Registration as a candidate environmental assessment practitioner (EAP) or with EAPASA.
- A valid Code B driving licence.
- Strong knowledge of integrated environmental management and applicable legislation.
- Familiarity with methodologies for evaluating Environmental Impact Assessments and management plans.
