The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning is seeking a passionate and skilled professional for the role of Assistant Director: Strategic Admin Support, based at the Head Office in Johannesburg. What You’ll Do
- Assist in managing departmental strategic planning processes to ensure alignment with government priorities.
- Support the development and implementation of departmental planning and policy systems and procedures.
- Contribute to the creation of Annual Performance Plans (APPs) and operational plans that guide departmental activities.
- Advise on planning processes, policy reviews, and the development and implementation of effective policies.
- Coordinate research on departmental policies and maintain updated policy registers.
- Conduct evaluation studies and site visits to gather essential information for assessments.
- Prepare detailed reports on project findings for stakeholders and ensure effective communication of results.
- Facilitate interaction with other departments and stakeholders on relevant issues related to the department’s mandate.
- Compile presentations for planning, policy research, and coordination purposes.
- Actively participate in departmental meetings and contribute constructively to discussions.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of Grade 12 and a National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 6/7) in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field recognized by SAQA.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in environmental administration.
- Valid driver’s license is essential.
- Strong knowledge of departmental policies, reporting procedures, and government priorities.
- Competencies in planning, organizing, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making.
- Exposure to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) administration is advantageous.
