The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Environmental Officer Grade A-C: Compliance Monitoring. What You’ll Do
- Conduct proactive compliance monitoring triggered by environmental authorizations, permits, and management plans.
- Perform sector compliance inspections, addressing specific issues within the designated areas.
- Engage in reactive compliance monitoring and enforcement operations, particularly in biodiversity conservation.
- Participate in workshops and campaigns to promote compliance and raise awareness.
- Carry out administrative tasks related to compliance monitoring and reporting.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate degree in Environmental Management, Natural Sciences, Environmental Law, or a relevant qualification.
- A minimum of one to two years of experience in Environmental Management.
- Trained as an Environmental Management Inspector is advantageous.
- A valid driver’s license (code B) is essential.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation, including the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) and associated regulations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with analytical and project management abilities.
- Attributes such as integrity, discipline, and teamwork.
