What You’ll Do
- Manage waste effectively, ensuring proper handling and monitoring of both general and healthcare risk waste.
- Oversee Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHERQ) management practices.
- Conduct waste quality monitoring by collecting and analyzing water samples.
- Implement food control measures by inspecting food premises and training staff on safety protocols.
- Organize and oversee pest control programs to manage vector control within the facility.
- Participate in disease surveillance as part of the outbreak response team, investigating outbreaks and collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor environmental health indicators and prepare reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with pollution control and maintain high standards of environmental health hygiene.
- Conduct occupational hygiene surveillance to safeguard both staff and patients.
What You’ll Need
- A Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- A Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health or a qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Current registration as an Independent Environmental Health Practitioner for the 2026/2027 period.
- Relevant experience is required; South African qualified employees may have no experience post-registration, while foreign qualified employees need one year of relevant experience.
- Hospital experience and knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
- Willingness to travel and possess a valid driver’s license.
