The Department of Finance is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual for the position of Director: Municipal Financial Support. What You’ll Do
- Monitor and follow up on reported unauthorized, irregular, fruitless, and wasteful expenditures by municipalities.
- Assess annual financial statements for municipalities in the province and compile reports for legislative review.
- Provide financial management support and capacity-building to identified municipalities.
- Oversee the implementation of the Municipal Property Rates Act and other relevant legislation.
- Coordinate and administer audit outcomes, ensuring compliance and effective financial oversight.
- Manage discretionary interventions as per the Municipal Systems Act and the Constitution.
- Lead and manage the Directorate’s performance and the development of employees.
What You’ll Need
- A Senior Certificate and a recognized Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 07) in Financial Management, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Auditing, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience at a middle/senior managerial level in financial management.
- Pre Entry SMS or Nyukela Certificate is required prior to appointment.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Strong planning and organizing skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent report writing and decision-making abilities.
- Good people management, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with a solid understanding of financial systems and local government frameworks.
