What You’ll Do
- Provide strategic leadership in the management of legal services.
- Offer legal advice on departmental contracts and represent the department in litigation cases.
- Manage and coordinate litigation processes and consult on court documents.
- Liaise with state attorneys and other state organs to ensure continuity in litigation.
- Negotiate and draft legally binding contracts on behalf of the department.
- Conduct legislative audits and provide compliance management.
- Draft and review policies relevant to the department.
- Oversee the budget and performance management of the directorate.
- Foster staff development and manage disciplinary processes.
What You’ll Need
- An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 7) in Legal Studies.
- A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience at a middle/senior managerial level in a legal services environment, particularly within the public sector.
- At least 5 years of post-admission experience as an Advocate or Attorney with the right to appear in the High Court.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Nyukela SMS Certificate for entry into SMS (Senior Management Service) from the National School of Government prior to appointment.
- Strong knowledge of the legislative and policy framework governing legal services processes in the public service.
- Demonstrated strategic management and leadership skills.
