What You’ll Do

• Provide strategic leadership in the management of legal services.
• Offer legal advice on departmental contracts and represent the department in litigation cases.
• Manage and coordinate litigation processes and consult on court documents.
• Liaise with state attorneys and other state organs to ensure continuity in litigation.
• Negotiate and draft legally binding contracts on behalf of the department.
• Conduct legislative audits and provide compliance management.
• Draft and review policies relevant to the department.
• Oversee the budget and performance management of the directorate.
• Foster staff development and manage disciplinary processes.

What You’ll Need

• An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 7) in Legal Studies.
• A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience at a middle/senior managerial level in a legal services environment, particularly within the public sector.
• At least 5 years of post-admission experience as an Advocate or Attorney with the right to appear in the High Court.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Nyukela SMS Certificate for entry into SMS (Senior Management Service) from the National School of Government prior to appointment.
• Strong knowledge of the legislative and policy framework governing legal services processes in the public service.
• Demonstrated strategic management and leadership skills.
