What You’ll Do

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of business units within the department.
• Develop and prepare medium and long-term audit plans.
• Manage the planning and execution of audits in line with IIA Standards.
• Monitor compliance with policies and procedures across the department.
• Report audit findings to the Accounting Officer and make strategic recommendations.
• Ensure the implementation and maintenance of national and provincial policy frameworks.
• Analyze losses and manage the departmental database for loss control.
• Promote a culture of quality and efficiency within the department.
• Contribute to the strategic direction and management of the Department of Education.

What You’ll Need

• An appropriate SAQA recognised Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in a relevant field.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience at a middle or senior managerial level.
• Membership in the Institute of Internal Auditors.
• Experience with electronic data processing systems and project management.
• Knowledge of GAAP and Internal Auditing Standards.
• Familiarity with the Public Finance Management Act.
• Strong ability to develop logical frameworks and planning models.
• Developed computer literacy and a valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel and work beyond normal hours.
• Ability to provide strategic leadership and maintain confidentiality.
