What You’ll Do
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of business units within the department.
- Develop and prepare medium and long-term audit plans.
- Manage the planning and execution of audits in line with IIA Standards.
- Monitor compliance with policies and procedures across the department.
- Report audit findings to the Accounting Officer and make strategic recommendations.
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of national and provincial policy frameworks.
- Analyze losses and manage the departmental database for loss control.
- Promote a culture of quality and efficiency within the department.
- Contribute to the strategic direction and management of the Department of Education.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate SAQA recognised Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience at a middle or senior managerial level.
- Membership in the Institute of Internal Auditors.
- Experience with electronic data processing systems and project management.
- Knowledge of GAAP and Internal Auditing Standards.
- Familiarity with the Public Finance Management Act.
- Strong ability to develop logical frameworks and planning models.
- Developed computer literacy and a valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel and work beyond normal hours.
- Ability to provide strategic leadership and maintain confidentiality.
