What You’ll Do
- Provide strategic leadership on ICT governance to align with departmental and national health priorities.
- Develop and implement ICT governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
- Establish and manage the ICT Project Management Office (PMO).
- Oversee ICT programs and projects to ensure timely and quality delivery.
- Manage the ICT project portfolio, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory frameworks, including PFMA and POPIA.
- Lead ICT risk management and audit processes, implementing internal controls.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement with internal business units and external stakeholders.
- Manage ICT governance and project budgets, supporting procurement processes.
- Lead and manage staff within the directorate, focusing on performance management and development.
- Be willing to travel across districts and health facilities as needed.
What You’ll Need
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (NQF Level 7).
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience at middle/senior management level.
- Proven experience in ICT Governance, PMO Management, and large-scale ICT project implementation.
- Proficiency in MS Office software applications.
- An unendorsed valid Code B driver’s license (Code 08).
- Certifications in PMP/PRINCE2, COBIT, ITIL, and CGEIT.
- Knowledge of PFMA, POPIA, DPSA CGICT Framework, King IV, and Public Sector regulations.
- Experience in the Public Sector and/or Health environment is advantageous.

Requirements
Senior Certificate / Grade 12.Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (NQF Level 7); Five (5) years’ experience in middle/senior management level.
Proven experience in ICT Governance, PMO Management and Large-scale ICT project implementation.
Computer Literacy: MS Office Software Applications, Plus Unendorsed valid Code B driver’s license (Code 08).

Individuals who have completed the course already, and who are therefore in possession of a certificate are welcome to submit such, however it is not required that an applicant submit such when applying for the post prior to the closing date.
However, prior to an appointment being made to any SMS post, the appointee to such a post must have completed the pre-entry certificate and must be in possession of such prior to taking up the post.
All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments.
One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be and integrity (ethical conduct) assessment.
All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical exercise and interview.
Following the technical exercise and interview, a maximum of three (3) SMS candidates will undergo psychometric assessment to assess cognitive capabilities, behavioural preferences, emotional intelligence and integrity.
NB: All shortlisted candidates will be required to submit proof of work experience endorsed and stamped by the employer/s prior to the date of the interview.
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competencies: The incumbent of this post will report to the Chief Information Officer and will be responsible to provide strategic leadership and management of ICT governance, portfolio, programme, and project management within the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health.
