The Department of Social Development is seeking a dedicated Deputy Director: Risk Management to join their team at the HSRC Building in Pretoria. What You’ll Do
- Manage the development, review, and implementation of risk management policies and strategies.
- Establish the Risk Management Committee and oversee its functions.
- Coordinate the development and monitoring of an enterprise-wide business continuity plan.
- Conduct risk assessment workshops and compile comprehensive risk assessment reports.
- Manage and report on the performance of the risk management sub-directorate in line with regulations.
- Ensure the effective operation of the Barnowl risk management system.
- Prepare quarterly risk progress reports from various branches.
What You’ll Need
- A qualification at NQF level 7 recognized by SAQA in Risk Management, including a Risk Practitioner Certificate from the Institute for Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA).
- 3 to 5 years of experience at a junior management level.
- In-depth knowledge of the Public Service Act and Regulations.
- Familiarity with the Social Development Sector and Public Sector Risk Management Framework.
- Understanding of the Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations.
- Proficiency with the Barnowl Risk System and various risk management frameworks, including ISO 31000 and the King V Report.
- Strong competencies in policy analysis, project coordination, communication, and stakeholder management.

Requirements
A qualification at NQF level 7, as recognized recognised by SAQA, in Risk Management, including Risk Practitioner Certificate with the Institute for Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA), Plus 3-5 years’ experience at junior management level.Knowledge and understanding of the Public Service Act and Regulation.

Job Duties
Manage the development, review, implementation and monitoring of risk management policy, strategy and plans.Establish Risk Management Committee (RMC) and Sub-Committee (Risk Champions).
Manage and Co- ordinate the development and monitoring of implementation of enterprise-wide 143 business continuity plan.
Conduct Risk Assessment Workshops and develop Risk Assessment report.
Co-ordinate the quarterly risk progress reports from the branches.
Manage the risk management system (Barnowl).
Manage, and report on the human resources, and performance of the sub-directorate in line with the set regulations and prescripts.
