What You’ll Do
- Monitor and evaluate financial performance of Provincial Education Departments (PEDs) against their strategic and annual plans.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on financial performance and budget allocations.
- Engage with stakeholders, including the Department of Basic Education, to discuss financial performance and strategies.
- Facilitate training and capacity building on financial analysis, monitoring, and reporting.
- Strengthen financial management reporting and enhance decision-making processes.
- Conduct regular assessments to ensure compliance with approved provincial financial plans.
- Travel to various PEDs for monitoring and support purposes.
- Oversee the performance development and management of staff within your team.
What You’ll Need
- A relevant post-matric qualification (NQF level 6) in Financial Management, Accounting, or a similar field recognized by SAQA.
- At least four years of experience in a budget analysis environment, preferably as an Assistant Director or equivalent.
- Proficient in analyzing financial statements and understanding supply chain management.
- Strong skills in data management, database administration, and report writing.
- Familiarity with government transversal systems and public sector budget planning processes.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, including the King Reports, PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and the Public Service Act.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage change and conflicts effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and strong organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel as required for monitoring duties.
