What You’ll Do

  • Oversee the initiation, implementation, and monitoring of safety programs aligned with the Western Cape Strategic Framework.
  • Foster and maintain effective stakeholder relationships to support safety partnerships.
  • Plan, manage, and account for the overall performance of the Sub directorate, ensuring all objectives are met.
  • Handle records and information management processes efficiently.
  • Lead and manage a team, focusing on enhancing individual performance and fostering professional growth.
  • Oversee financial management aspects related to safety programs and initiatives.

What You’ll Need

  • An appropriate 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification).
  • A minimum of 3 years of middle management experience.
  • Strong understanding of legislation, regulatory frameworks, and policies impacting public safety.
  • Proven experience in project management and operational management practices.
  • Knowledge of procurement and tendering processes relevant to the public sector.
  • Competence in public finance management and human resources processes.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and networking skills to engage with various stakeholders.

Requirements

An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification); A minimum of 3 years middle management experience.

Competencies: Working knowledge and understanding of the following: Legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices that have a bearing on the line functions; Information systems that aid in the management of knowledge and information pertaining to the line function; Project management; Operational management practices; Procurement and tendering processes; Policy development, and operational management, monitoring and 314 review processes; Modern systems of governance and administration; Public service procedures, processes and systems; Regional and local political, economic and social affairs impacting on the provincial government of the Western Cape; Constitutional, legal and institutional arrangements governing the South African public sector; Public finance, human resources and discourse management processes; Public Finance Management Act, National and Provincial Treasury Regulations, other financial policies, prescripts, directives and collective agreements; Functioning of the province and the activities of sister departments/related functional areas; Policies of the government of the day; Labour Relations legislation and regulations; Performance management in general.

Manage and facilitate the initiation, implementation and monitoring of safety programmes, services and partnership initiatives according to the Western Cape Strategic Framework (safety plans); Manage stakeholder relationships for the support and effective functioning of safety partnerships; Plan and manage the work of and account for the overall performance of the Sub directorate; Records and Information Management; People Management; Financial Management.

Salary

R932 292 per annum (Level 11), (all-inclusive salary package)
