About the Role
The Department of Home Affairs is seeking a dedicated Deputy Director: Parliamentary and Cabinet Support to join its dynamic team in Tshwane and Cape Town. What You’ll Do
- Provide comprehensive support to Parliamentary matters and Cabinet activities.
- Coordinate concurrent workstreams related to Parliamentary and Cabinet functions.
- Track deadlines and manage submissions across various departmental branches.
- Facilitate interactions with Parliamentary Committees in line with the Parliamentary programme.
- Render administrative and technical support during Parliamentary briefings and committee meetings.
- Oversee the drafting, quality assurance, and submission of departmental responses to Parliamentary inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Parliamentary and Cabinet processes, policies, and timelines.
- Monitor the implementation of decisions made by Cabinet and associated committees.
- Maintain accurate records of Parliamentary questions, committee resolutions, and Cabinet memoranda.
- Drive the implementation of Batho Pele principles in all stakeholder interactions.
- Develop and review policies and procedures to ensure effective governance.
- Manage human, physical, and financial resources efficiently within the unit.
What You’ll Need
- An undergraduate qualification in Political Sciences, Public Management, Administration, or a related field at NQF level 6.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in middle management.
- Strong understanding of Portfolio and Cabinet Committees and knowledge of foreign policies.
- Familiarity with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury regulations.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between Pretoria and Cape Town.
- Exceptional organisational and communication skills, with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong report writing capabilities.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
