The National Prosecuting Authority is seeking a dedicated Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions to join its team in Polokwane, Limpopo. This pivotal role involves managing a dynamic portfolio assigned by the Director, where one will oversee, mentor, and guide Advocates and Prosecutors on complex high-profile cases in the high court, the highest court of appeal, and the constitutional court. What You’ll Do

• Manage the portfolio assigned by the Director and oversee legal matters in high courts.
• Train and guide Advocates and Prosecutors on complex cases, ensuring high professional standards.
• Investigate and prosecute criminal cases, providing legal oversight throughout the process.
• Prepare court cases, including drafting charge sheets and other essential documents.
• Present the state’s case in court, including witness examination and addressing the court.
• Develop strategic planning for the division and lead staff towards achieving objectives.
• Manage resources effectively and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
• Handle representations and complaints, maintaining high standards of service delivery.
• Promote community involvement and strengthen partnerships within the criminal justice system.

What You’ll Need

• An LLB degree or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors.
• At least ten (10) years of post-qualification experience in civil and/or criminal litigation.
• Knowledge and experience in strategic and operations management.
• Right of appearance as defined in section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998.
• Strong advocacy, legal research, and drafting skills.
• Good understanding of civil and/or criminal procedure; experience in POCA legislation is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
• A valid driver’s license and strong computer skills are required.
