About the Role
The Department of Agriculture is seeking a dedicated Deputy Director: Landcare and Landuse Management to be based at its Head Office in Polokwane. What You’ll Do
- Manage and monitor the provision of integrated sustainable land use planning in alignment with CARA and SALA/PDALA.
- Oversee the implementation of the Landcare programme to promote sustainable agricultural practices.
- Monitor and coordinate soil conservation efforts to protect and enhance land productivity.
- Manage resources effectively, ensuring compliance with relevant directives and legislation.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to facilitate land use management initiatives.
What You’ll Need
- Grade 12 plus a relevant NQF level 7 qualification in Soil Science, Land Use Planning, Agricultural Management, Environmental Management, or a similar field recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Landcare and Land Use environment, with at least 3 years at the Assistant Director level.
- A valid driver’s license (with exceptions for individuals with disabilities).
- In-depth knowledge of the legislative framework governing public service and land use management.
- Strong competencies in financial management, problem-solving, planning, organizing, and policy development.
- Excellent communication skills and experience in people management and leadership.
