What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic leadership in the development of the aquaculture industry.
  • Enhance economic opportunities through sustainable management of inland fisheries.
  • Promote ongoing research to support resource protection and development.
  • Oversee regular stock assessments and data collection for policy development.
  • Establish a comprehensive research capability that addresses fisheries management issues.
  • Manage South Africa’s marine living resources through effective allocation and permitting.
  • Coordinate participation in national and international structures for fisheries management.

What You’ll Need

  • A qualification at NQF level 8 in Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience at a senior managerial level.
  • Successful completion of the Public Service Senior Management Leadership Programme.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Marine Living Resources Act and the fishing industry.
  • Proven strategic capability and strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and strategies effectively.
