What You’ll Do
- Manage the departmental fixed asset registers for both movable and immovable assets.
- Monitor the development and maintenance of asset life cycles, including acquisition, accounting, maintenance, depreciation, and disposal.
- Conduct physical verification of assets against inventory lists and ensure all government assets are appropriately marked or bar-coded.
- Oversee the departmental loss register, ensuring timely updates and facilitating disposals and write-offs.
- Supervise the maintenance of the lease register and ensure timely payment for leased equipment.
- Develop and implement asset-related policies and manuals, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Facilitate policy consultations and keep asset custodians informed of amendments and updates.
What You’ll Need
- A National Senior Certificate and an undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6/7) in Asset Management, Public Management, or Supply Chain Management as recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of three to five years of experience in a similar role, specifically in asset management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A valid Code 08 driver’s license.
- Knowledge of the BAS and Logis systems.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation such as the Public Finance Management Act and the Public Service Act.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and report writing skills.
