What You’ll Do
- Manage early warning system tools to facilitate effective disaster risk reduction planning.
- Oversee post-disaster recovery and rehabilitation efforts, ensuring timely disaster relief.
- Implement capacity-building initiatives and conduct awareness programs on disaster management.
- Actively participate in climate change and disaster risk management structures.
- Ensure compliance with disaster risk management policies in climate change program implementation.
- Manage both human and physical resources in accordance with relevant directives and legislation.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 certificate and an appropriate NQF Level 7 qualification in Disaster Management, Agriculture, or Environmental Management sciences recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an Agricultural Disaster Risk Management environment, with at least 3 years at the Assistant Director level.
- A valid driver’s license (excluding individuals with disabilities).
- In-depth knowledge of public service prescripts and the legislative framework governing disaster management.
- Proven management competencies with a results-driven approach.
- Strong skills in program and project management, financial management, and change management.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and conflict management skills.
